Festival of Lights opens in Niagara Falls' Hyde Park

NIAGARA FALLS - A drive-through festival of holiday light display was to be switched on, followed by a fireworks show, the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 23 in Hyde Park.

There were more than 20 displays available Wednesday, but Peter P. Robinson, head of A Hand Up Inc., said the number will soon increase to about 35.

The free displays will be turned on at dusk every night through Jan. 2, and will stay on until 10:30 or 11 p.m., Robinson said.

His not-for-profit organization, which also operates the regional Peanut Butter and Jelly drive for local food pantries, set up the light displays in partnership with the United Way of Greater Niagara. The United Way had been offering light displays in the park for the past few years.
