Wheatfield woman charged with impaired driving, leaving scene of crash

WHEATFIELD – A woman was charged late Monday afternoon with impaired driving and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office said.

The crash happened at the intersection of Niagara Falls Boulevard and Williams Road at about 5 p.m., the sheriff's office said. The driver of the vehicle that struck the second vehicle fled the scene, but the driver of the second vehicle followed the other driver south on Niagara Falls Boulevard until deputies arrived.

The driver of the second vehicle was identified as Erin Clothier, 36, of Wheatfield, who also had her 6-year-old son in the car, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies charged Clothier with felony driving while impaired by drugs under Leandra's Law, child endangerment, criminal possession of a controlled substance, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, as well as several other vehicle and traffic violations. Clothier was remanded to the Niagara County Jail on $750 bail.
