The Aurora Theatre’s annual holiday movie series has a special local flavor this year. In addition to familiar seasonal favorites like "White Christmas," the free "Hollywood Holidays" festival opens and closes with original holiday movies made in Buffalo.
“A Prince for Christmas,” the 2015 film which showcased the small-town beauty of East Aurora, opens the series at 11 a.m. Nov. 25. “Christmas in Vermont,” which premieres Nov. 27 on ION television, can be seen on the big screen when it closes the series Dec. 31. It was filmed in East Aurora and Ellicottville.
Additionally, a private collection of original props and costumes from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” including the Grinch’s Santa Claus costume and a scene depicting the famous post office, can be seen inside the theater. Patrons are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or a financial donation to benefit Kaely’s Kindness and Toys. Here’s the schedule.
