Two houses burning on Buffalo's East Side

Half a dozen people in two houses were being referred to the American Red Cross after fire damaged two houses on Townsend Street off Broadway at midday Sunday.

Buffalo firefighters called a second alarm to fight the fires at 249 and 251 Townsend, according to a tweet from Erie County Fire Wire.

The houses, which are adjacent to each other, are two-and-a-half stories each, according to Erie County Fire Wire.

It was not immediately clear what caused the blaze or if there were any injuries.
