WHEATFIELD – A school bus stopping to drop off a child on Hoover Road was struck at about 2:40 p.m. Wednesday by a vehicle that ran into the bus from behind, according to the state police.
Elijah R. Zapp, 21, of North Tonawanda, was ticketed by state police after rear-ending the school bus, authorities said.
The school bus – which was carrying 29 students – and Zapp's vehicle were both southbound on Hoover Road at the time of the incident, according to state police.
The bus had its red lights flashing when it stopped to let the student off, but Zapp's vehicle failed to stop and crashed into the rear of the bus, according to police.
No one was injured in the collision, state police reported.
Zapp was issued traffic tickets by police for following too closely, being an unlicensed operator, traveling at an unsafe speed and failure to provide an insurance card, according to state police.
He faces court proceedings in several weeks.
