Once again, Steve Stamkos won’t be playing in Buffalo.
This time, it could benefit the Sabres.
Stamkos, targeted by Buffalo during the offseason, was set to face the Sabres on Thursday night in KeyBank Center. However, the center suffered a leg injury Tuesday night in Detroit and the Lightning has announced he will return to Tampa Bay for further evaluation.
Stamkos left the ice without putting weight on his right leg Wednesday after throwing a check along the boards.
