NIAGARA FALLS - Students from Niagara Falls elementary schools will join city officials at 4 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall to unveil a unique art installation - a mosaic of painted plastic disks recovered from a manufacturing facility that once capped off rolls of wire.
The art installation will mark America Recycles Day and promote the potential re-use of items typically sent to landfills.
The art installation is a collaboration between Niagara Falls refuse and recycling and the Niagara Falls City School District.
Ronni McGrath, school district STEM coordinator, said students explored environmental science and arts to find creative uses for items that typically would be discarded as trash.
The public is invited to attend the unveiling. The mosaic display will hang in City Hall through Nov. 23.
