Garden Notes: News of area clubs and events for Nov. 11-18, 2016

The Niagara Frontier Orchid Society will hold its Fall Orchid Show at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. There will be orchid displays, growing demonstrations and orchid vendors. Your admission to the Gardens includes the Orchid Show. In addition, a seminar of national speakers will take place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday; there is a separate $25 fee for the seminar. Visit

Western New York Hosta Society will meet Sunday in the East Aurora Senior Center, King Street at Oakwood Avenue, East Aurora. East Aurora Garden Club will meet at noon Monday in St. Matthias Episcopal Church, Main and Maple streets, East Aurora. Park in rear. Margaret Wooster, author of "Somewhere to go on a Sunday: A Guide to Natural Treasures in Western New York and Southern Ontario," will present a program, "Scajaquada Creek Reclamation.” Guests welcome. The African Violet & Gesneriad Society of Western New York will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Greenfield Health & Rehabilitation Center, 5949 Broadway, Lancaster, in the Manor Park facility. Topic: auction. Email for detailed directions.

Federated Holland Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Brink Memorial Community Center, Legion Drive, Holland. Cinderella Isle Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in Trinity United Methodist Church, 2100 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island. Judges Council of 8th District of Federated Garden Clubs of New York State will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday in Brighton Community Church, 1225 Brighton Road, Town of Tonawanda. A Small Standard Flower Show will be held for N.G.C. flower show judges and students. Entries will be received from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Judging will begin at 11:30 a.m. with oral critiquing at 1:30 p.m.
