Amherst winter parking ban won't start until Nov. 16

Good news, Amherst. The town will not implement its winter parking ban until Nov. 16.

Amherst Supervisor Dr. Barry Weinstein, after receiving input from Highway Superintendent Patrick Lucey, Jr and Amherst Police Chief John Askey, decided it wouldn't ban overnight parking on Amherst streets for another couple of weeks, citing the unseasonable warm weather, the town announcement in a statement.

The high Tuesday, the first day of November, is expected to get to about 70 degrees.

The winter parking ban prohibits parking on streets between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. through the spring.
