A West Seneca Highway Department employee who was run over by a town sewer maintenance vehicle Tuesday has died.
Donald Schultz, 53, a 30-year employee of the town, was working on a project on Glenmar Drive about 9 a.m. Tuesday when he lost his footing and slipped beneath the wheels of his truck while it was still in motion, according to town police. Crews said he was flushing a sanitary sewer line at the time of the accident.
Town Supervisor Sheila M. Meegan Saturday issued a statement on Schultz's death.
"We are saddened by the loss of Don Schultz, one of the town's longtime, most dedicated employees," Meegan said. "Our thoughts and prayers immediately turn towards his loving family during this difficult time. Godspeed, my friend."
Schultz had been hospitalized in critical condition in Erie County Medical Center since Tuesday. He was the father of six children and grandfather of two.
