Buffalo-based healthcare and hospitality firm Hamister Group LLC has acquired a Pittsburgh hotel that it plans to convert into a new seven-story senior housing facility.
Hamister did not say how much it paid to acquire the former La Quinta Inn & Suites in the suburb of Ross Township, Pa. But it wants to renovate the 85,000-square-foot property into 92 assisted-living suites, 19 memory care units and nine independent-living apartments.
The new facility will be called Northland Heights. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2017.
Hamister, which also operates a Holiday Inn Express in Cranberry, Pa., manages a total of four senior housing communities, a home healthcare agency, and eight hotels, with two more hotels under construction. It's based at 10 Lafayette Square, in the former Tishman Building, where it also operates a Hilton Garden Inn hotel.
