City Hallways (Oct. 28) Hollywood glamour returns to City Hall

Council Chambers as movie set

Last spring it was Chadwick Boseman and Josh Gad – the stars of the "Marshall" movie – at Buffalo City Hall. Now, we have Vivica Fox and Daniel Baldwin.

Fox  and Baldwin were in Council Chambers earlier this week filming scenes for their sci-fi thriller "CrossBreed." Fox plays a U.S. president working with some retired military war heroes to  track down an alien whose DNA is being  used to manufacture weapons in an  illegal medical facility.

I was busy working on other stories, so didn't get a chance to see Fox or Baldwin when they were in City Hall on Wednesday.

But Councilman Ulysees Wingo posted a photo on Facebook that he and Councilman Wyatt took with the stars.

And Mayor Brown posted a photo on Instagram that he took with Fox.

"Thanks for the love and support dawling!" Fox wrote as a comment on the mayor's post.

Big meeting last night sponsored by Concerned Clergy Coalition of WNY, which is concerned that the Buffalo renaissance isn't reaching all of Buffalo. The group is suggesting a Community Benefits Agreement be enforced with developers coming into the East Side.

The goals would be to:

  • Empower East Side residents to have a say in any redevelopment occuring in their neighborhoods.
  • Prevent gentrification.
  • Reduce poverty
  • Increase contracts with African-American businesses.
  • Reduce poverty in African-American communities.

Also at the meeting, Masten Councilman Ulysees Wingo said a new hashtag has been created - #EastSideComeUp - because, he said, the East Side is coming up.
