UB women picked 2nd behind Ohio in MAC East poll

The University at Buffalo women's basketball team is picked to finish second in the East Division of the Mid-American Conference in a preseason poll of coaches, the MAC released Thursday.

UB is the defending champion in the MAC and returns all five starters from last season. However, the Bulls didn't start playing great until the last six weeks of last season and were the No. 8 seed with an 8-10 record entering the MAC tournament.

Ohio was the No. 1 seed last season with a 16-2 record. The Bobcats lost two of their five starters, including their best player, guard Kiyanna Black. But the Bobcats this season add a high-major transfer, forward Taylor Agler.

Ohio was picked to win the MAC East. Central Michigan is picked to win the MAC West and claim the MAC title. UB beat Central Michigan in the MAC final last March on Stephanie Reid's last-second bank shot.
