Niagara Falls man pleads guilty in stolen gun case

LOCKPORT - A man who was caught with a stolen handgun in Niagara Falls on Jan. 25 pleaded guilty to a felony Thursday in State Supreme Court.

Gerald T. Remington Jr., 29, of 20th Street in the Falls, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. could send him to prison for as long as seven years when Remington returns to court Jan. 23.

Police caught up to Remington when they were investigating a report of gunfire on 20th Street and found that he had stashed the gun, which turned out to be stolen, behind a garbage tote at a home on that street. He also reportedly dropped a bullet on the floor while being booked at Police Headquarters.
