Niagara Falls police return to Legends Park

NIAGARA FALLS -- Niagara Falls police, aided by bomb-sniffing dogs from the Niagara County and Erie County sheriff's departments, returned to Legends Park off Portage Road on Wednesday night to continue the investigation of an explosive device that went off on a basketball court Tuesday night.

Meghan Rossman, executive assistant to Niagara Falls Mayor Paul A. Dyster, said police went back to the park on Wednesday to check for possible remnants of whatever device exploded the day before.

More evidence was collected Wednesday night but no explosive devices were found and Niagara Falls police are continuing the investigation, she said.

Both the park and nearby Abate Elementary School are "safe and secure," she said.
