A 31-year-old man was fatally shot in the Town of Collins early Wednesday and a Buffalo man has been charged with his murder, State Police said.
The victim, identified as Dustin M. Sharp of Hamburg, was found shot at about 1 a.m. Wednesday inside a trailer in a rural area on Route 438 on the Seneca Nation's Cattaraugus Territory.
Daryl M. Bland, 22, was charged with one count of second-degree murder, police said at an afternoon news conference. He was arraigned Wednesday before Judge Michael Cooper in Eden Town Court and remanded to Erie County Jail.
Sharp and Bland were acquaintances, said Capt. James Hall, who added he could not offer any details about a possible motive or the circumstances of the shooting.
The Seneca Nation in a news release identified Sharp as a descendant and said Bland was found by Marshals hiding nearby in an abandoned home on Route 438.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the State Police Collins barracks at 532-6820.
