Lockport sex offender imprisoned for assaulting woman

LOCKPORT - A Level 1 sex offender from Lockport was sentenced Wednesday to 18 months to three years in state prison for punching a woman in the face.

However, Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon said the sentence will be served simultaneously with a prison term Lakeem C. Wright already is serving for failing to register as a sex offender.

Wright, 26, of Amelia Street, gashed a woman above her upper lip by punching her May 23 in the City of Lockport. The woman had an order of protection against Wright, who pleaded guilty Aug. 31 to first-degree criminal contempt of court for violating the order with the assault.

On July 20, Lockport City Judge William J. Watson had sent Wright to state prison for 1 1/3 to four years for failure to register as a sex offender.
