Brittany Lyn Kerr, of the Town of Tonawanda, a counselor, teacher and award-winning dancer, died Oct. 18 in Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a short illness. She was 26.
Born in Amherst, she was a graduate of Kenmore West High School. She attended SUNY Fredonia and SUNY Buffalo State, earning a bachelor’s degree in teaching. She was scheduled to receive her master’s degree in education from Canisius College in December.
Miss Kerr was a counselor at Stanley G. Falk Schools and Northtowns Boys and Girls Club, which presented her its Staff Utility Award earlier this year. She also was an assistant manager at the Ken-Ton Save-A-Lot store.
She was associated with Terrie George’s Dance Theatrics for 20 years and won numerous awards at dance competitions.
She also enjoyed spending time at camp and in activities with children.
Survivors include her parents, James D. and Cynthia Ann; two brothers, Shawn and James; and two grandparents, Britta and Herman Sparks.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Salem United Church of Christ, 114 Morgan St., City of Tonawanda.
