Tyrod Taylor and the Bills offense were able to take advantage of great field position second quarter, scoring the game’s first touchdown after taking over on Miami’s 40-yard line. Taylor capped a seven-play drive with a 10-yard option run that faked out both the Dolphins defense and the CBS camera man.
Lerentee McCray got a hand on Matt Darr’s punt early in the second quarter that set up the drive. The Bills would’ve been backed up to their own 17 after Darr’s first punt, but a holding penalty forced the Dolphins to replay fourth down.
The last Bills player to block a punt was Boobie Dixon against the Jets in 2014.
Williams injured: Bills safety Aaron Williams was injured late in the second quarter after taking a high hit from Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry. Williams went to the locker room to be evaluated from both head and neck injuries and did not return to the game.
Williams suffered a severe neck injury last season and said it was 50-50 that he would continue his NFL career. Landry was flagged for unnecessary roughness.
