Bench to memorialize Lancaster's James Metz to be installed at town youth bureau

The Lancaster band shell area will gain another park bench, this time to memorialize Lancaster youth James Metz, who died two years ago in a mid-air plane collision.

The wooden bench, framed with bright blue metal since blue was James' favorite color, is being donated by his father, Steve Metz.

The $1,600 bench is to be installed soon near trees that were planted last year to memorialize James. The bench will be in the band shell area, near other memorial benches.

The area is at the town youth bureau off Oxford  Avenue by Artel Metz Drive.

"This will be a special bench for James, a special remembrance for him," said John Trojanowsky, town youth bureau director.
