NIAGARA FALLS - Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center announced Friday that two construction projects have started there this month.
Work began this week on a $4.3 million cardiac and stroke care unit on the third floor of the Schoellkopf Building. The 12,950-square-foot unit will include 25 private rooms and a rehabilitation therapy facility. The project will take about a year to complete.
Earlier this month, construction started on a $2.2 million cardiac catheterization laboratory in Memorial's Heart Center of Niagara. The lab will offer round-the-clock opportunities for such procedures as stent placement and balloon angioplasty, and is slated to open next spring. The Heart Center is a collaborative facility involving Catholic Health, Kaleida Health, Erie County Medical Center and Niagara Falls Memorial.
