LOCKPORT - Alexandria Zavarella, who sold $100 worth of heroin to a police agent on Ontario Street in the City of Lockport Feb. 17, pleaded guilty this week in Niagara County Court.
Judge Matthew J. Murphy III assigned Zavarella, 24, of Ontario Street, to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment. Her plea will be reduced to a misdemeanor with a nonjail sentence if she succeeds in kicking her drug addiction, but if she fails, Zavarella risks as long as nine years in state prison for third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
In another County Court drug case, Christopher R. Miller, 34, of 23rd Street, Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty to attempted fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in exchange for a promised sentence of no more than 18 months in prison. Judge Sara Sheldon scheduled sentencing for Dec. 7. Miller was arrested Oct. 22, 2015, in the Falls.
