We need to reconsider changes on Route 198
The recent changes to Route 198 were not very well-thought-out and lack the full support of the community affected by this decision to decrease the speed limit from Route 33 west to the Niagara Street exit. The tragedy in Delaware Park was a freak accident, and the installation of a guardrail was the right answer. All the other changes were over the top, typical shoot-from-the-hip behavior, and will cost the taxpayers millions of needless dollars because of a perceived design flaw many years before.
While I would support a reduction of speed on Route 198 from the Parkside interchange to the Grant Street entrance, it makes no sense from Route 33 west, and from Route 198 west to the Parkside traffic light. Also, I have noticed on Nottingham Terrace, by the tennis court, there is a walking, bike path with no guardrail, which could pose a problem.
