A winter parking ban begins Nov. 1 in the Town of Tonawanda but Kenmore's won't start until two weeks later, police said this week.
The town's ordinance prohibits parking on all streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. from Nov. 1 to April 1. Police also reminded residents that parking on a landscaped front yard or sidewalk is prohibited and violators could be subject to a fine of up to $250.
Meanwhile, the effective dates of Kenmore's overnight winter parking ban were changed this week by the Village Board. The old dates were Nov. 1 through April 1, but the new dates are Nov. 15 through March 15. Village officials felt the first two weeks of November and last two weeks of March are not historically prone to inclement weather requiring street plowing, said Police Chief Peter J. Breitnauer.
The village ban's hours remain 2 a.m. until 6 a.m.
