Two new Anchor Bar franchises have taken wing.
A new location in south Richmond, Va. is the company's first franchise in the state and its first location in the southeast. Franchisee David Allred said he chose Anchor Bar because there "just isn't anything like it" in town. It will open this winter.
The Toronto location is the second one for Ontario-based franchisee David Copperthwaite. It opened late last month. His first location is in Burlington. Like the Burlington location, the Toronto restaurant seats 300 people, has a stone fireplace and waterwall. It's the third franchise in Ontario.
Anchor Bar has opened three franchised locations this year, including one in the former Fuddruckers building at 4300 Maple Road at Sweet Home Road in Amherst.
The original Anchor Bar on Main Street, which is credited with inventing what we know today as the chicken wing, is not affiliated with the Anchor Bar Franchise & Development Co.
