Power restored after dump truck strikes utility pole in Clarence

A dump truck hit a utility pole on Thompson Road in Clarence Wednesday morning, knocking out power to nearly 3,000 New York State Electric & Gas customers.

The crash was reported at 6:45 a.m., according to the Erie County Sheriff's Office, which said a section of Thompson will be closed while utility crews make repairs.

The crash damaged both the pole and a transformer, the sheriff's office said.

By mid-afternoon power was fully restored, according to the NYSEG website.
