North Dakota tops USCHO men's hockey poll

With a 3-0 start, North Dakota received all 50 first-place votes in this week's Division I Men's Hockey poll. The second week of the regular season had its share of upsets and teams of note. And so far it's been a quality start for Atlantic Hockey.

Holy Cross knocked off Providence in overtime, knocking the Friars from No. 11 to No. 15 in the national poll and down to No. 15 on my ballot. Western New York native Paul Berrafato made 33 saves in that win, the second signature win for Atlantic Hockey this season. Army West Point was among the teams receiving votes, off to a 2-0-1 start including a non-conference tie at Colgate while Air Force is 2-1-1 with a win over ranked Boston College, a tie against Ohio State and a split against independent Arizona State. RIT got one point as the Tigers are off to a 1-1-1 start.

National teams to take note of: Minnesota State is off to a 4-0 start scoring 17 goals in four games. Bemidji State is also off to a 4-0-0 start.

And now, my ballot:

1. North Dakota

7. UMass-Lowell
8. Minnesota State
