GIBSON, Melinda Ruth, DVM (Burgwardt)

GIBSON - Melinda Ruth, DVM (nee Burgwardt) Began her eternal life, October 7, 2016, at age 59 after a four year battle against ovarian cancer. Beloved wife of Glenn Lovell Gibson; daughter of Clarice Burgwardt and the late Carl Burgwardt; sister of Sally (Jeff) Lauck, David Burgwardt and the late Tamra Burgwardt; proud aunt of Barrett (Gad) Reinhorn and Garrett Burgwardt; she was also loved by her husband's family and deeply loved them as well. Melinda grew up in Orchard Park, NY and graduated from Buffalo Seminary, Canisius College (Bachelors) and the University of Minnesota (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine). She returned to WNY in 1986 and started Broadway Veterinary Clinic in Lancaster, NY in 1994. Melinda was very active in the WNY Veterinary Community, The Wheelmen, serving as National Commander for two years and also local community theatre in WNY. She also served as a deacon in Trinity Lutheran Church and was frequently heard singing hymns at any time and in any place. Melinda and her family would like to thank M. Steven Piver, MD (retired), Kunle Odunsi, MD, PhD at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Panagiotis Konstantinopoulis, MD Phd and Dana-Farber Cancer Center, Boston, MA and Sisters Hospital ER team and fourth floor nurses for excellent care and treatment. The family will be present to receive friends on Friday,
October 21st from 4-8 PM at the

HOME, 5615 Broadway, Lancaster.
Additional visitation will be held on Saturday October 22nd, 9:30-11 AM
at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 4369 South Buffalo Street, Orchard Park. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM. This will be a celebration of a great life filled with love and faith.
