West entrance/exit at Buffalo airport will close nightly starting next week

Paving work will close the west entrance and exit of Buffalo Niagara International Airport at the end of the Kensington Expressway.

The closings will happen from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. next week, beginning on Monday, as well as on Oct. 24 and 25, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority announced.

The paving work will also affect individual traffic lanes on Genesee Street intermittently between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily.

The project involves a full-depth asphalt replacement, as well as milling and overlay and the reconstruction of sidewalk and handicapped access ramps on each side of the entrance/exit. Traffic control detection loops in the pavement will also be replaced.

Those traveling to the airport should follow signs pointing drivers to the airport's east entrance. The construction schedule is weather dependent.
