27-year-old man fatally shot early Thursday in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS - A 27-year-old man was fatally shot early Thursday, according to city police.

James Arroyo, of Niagara Falls, was shot four times - three times in the chest and once in the neck - at about 12:30 a.m. in an alley between Pine and Walnut avenues that runs between 19th and 20th streets, said Niagara Falls Police Chief of Detectives Kelly J. Rizzo.

Arroyo died en route to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Rizzo said in an email.

The investigation is ongoing. Police have determined a motor vehicle crash a few blocks away from the scene that happened moments after the shooting was not related.
