A fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in Visual Impact Signs, a sign shop on Route 20A in East Aurora, said Assistant Fire Chief Roger LeBlanc of the East Aurora Fire Department.
No one was injured in the blaze that appears to have started in a second floor workshop at about 5:10 p.m.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control by about 6:10 p.m.
The sign shop has created a number of whimsical signs throughout Western New York including the "Lake Effect Man" that adorns the corner of the Pearl Street Grill & Brewery in downtown Buffalo.
Route 20A was shut down between Center Street and S. Willow Street in both directions.
East Aurora firefighters were assisted at the scene by Jamison Road and Wales Center volunteer fire companies.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
