Fire to coach young wrestlers at North Tonawanda club

NORTH TONAWANDA - Retired, award-winning wrestling coach Dan Fire will come back to the mat to coach wrestlers, aged 5 to 14, in the North Tonawanda Wrestling Club.

Fire's coaching career includes eight Section VI Class A Titles and six Western New York Coach of the Year awards.

He said his return to coach younger wrestlers will not only benefit the varsity wrestling program in the future, but will also benefit the kids who will be challenged physically and mentally in a healthy sport.

The North Tonawanda Wrestling Club will hold a free two-week wrestling clinic for first-time wrestlers beginning Monday, Oct. 17 in the upstairs wrestling gym at North Tonawanda High School, 405 Meadow Drive. The clinic is from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Practices for the regular season will begin at 6 p.m. Nov. 1
