LOCKPORT - A Niagara Falls man who was shot twice in a six-month period was arraigned Tuesday in State Supreme Court on an indictment accusing him of selling drugs to a police informant in the Falls.
DeMario A. Chandler, 29, of 18th Street, pleaded not guilty to two counts each of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance. Assistant District Attorney Laura A. Bittner said Chandler allegedly sold cocaine July 12 and Clonazepam July 27.
Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. released Chandler on his own recognizance after Assistant Public Defender Vincent M. Sandonato said Chandler is a father of four children, with ages ranging from 4 to 9, and needs medical treatment for his gunshot wounds.
Anthony L. Riley, 25, of Welch Avenue, is under indictment for allegedly shooting Chandler Sept. 26, 2015, and again March 11 of this year. He has pleaded not guilty.
