Dean J. Brucato, a welder and artist, died unexpectedly Oct. 4 in his Buffalo home. He was 57.
Born in Buffalo, he attended Kenmore East High School and served for four years stateside in the Navy, where he learned welding.
Returning from service, Mr. Brucato worked as a welder for Hebeler Corp. and Ascension Industries. He also made windows and other items for a stained glass shop in Hamburg. He retired due to a back injury in 2009.
He also was an illustrator and created album covers for the local band Rodan and other groups.
A music lover, he played the bass guitar and was the brother of Bruce Brucato, guitarist with the local progressive rock fusion band Gamalon, who died in 2014.
His marriages to Debra L. Hermann and Nancy Smith ended in divorce.
Other survivors include three sons, Jason Wierich; Wyatt M. and Miles L.; a daughter, Haley R.; his mother, Doreen Tarangelo; a brother James; two sisters, Michelle and Denise; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be arranged after the holidays.
