Police arrest burglary suspect accused of shaking victim’s vehicle

Central District police have arrested a man accused of breaking into a woman’s apartment on Buffalo’s lower West Side, then later approaching her vehicle – where she had gone to hide – and shaking the sport-utility vehicle before slashing one of its tires.

In the incident reported Monday morning, police said the intruder kicked in the apartment door and broke the door chain before fleeing with the woman’s apartment key. After slashing the front passenger’s-side tire with a kitchen knife, the burglar fled on a bike.

Police reports state that officers charged Alfredo Fontanez, 33, with first-degree burglary, criminal mischief, menacing and petit larceny.
