The Niagara Frontier Orchid Society is expanding its Fall Orchid Show to include speakers from the Mid-American Orchid Congress, which will be holding its fall conference in Buffalo.
The Orchid Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave. There will be displays, a judged competition, growing demonstrations and orchid plants and supplies for sale.
Saturday speakers will include Jose “Pepe” Portilla, who will discuss the 22nd World Orchid Conference next year in Ecuador; Inge Poot, emeritus judge for the American Orchid Society; and Botanical Gardens volunteer Bob Snyder, who will speak about the history of the Gardens. An all-day speaker pass is $25. Food trucks will be available outdoors Saturday.
General admission, which includes the Orchid Show, is $9 adults; $8 seniors and students; $5 children ages 3 to 12. Children ages 2 and under and Garden members are free. For more information and tickets, call 835-2132 or visit buffalogardens.com.
