Clarence residents want road closed 2 years ago to be repaired

Hundreds of people have signed a petition asking for the repair and reopening of a one-mile stretch of Tonawanda Creek Road that was closed two years ago in Clarence.

Erie County Legislator Edward Rath and St. Stephen’s UCC Pastor Ned Holderby are hosting a community forum Tuesday night about the hardships the road closing is causing residents and businesses. The forum will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen’s UCC, 8520 Tonawanda Creek Road.

Tonawanda Creek Road, between Northfield and Westphalinger roads, has been closed to traffic since June 5, 2014, ever since a section of the road collapsed into the creek, according to a spokeswoman for Rath.
