Mary Rose Graham has been named director of the new Southtowns Surgery Center. She will direct and maintain financial performance and budgeting, ensure regulatory compliance, monitor and direct operations, and work with physicians and staff to maximize efficiencies and provide high-quality patient experience. Graham holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from D’Youville College and a master’s degree in executive leadership and change from Daemen College.

Merchants Insurance Group has promoted Dan Bierbrauer to vice president, national distribution. Bierbrauer has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. In this new position he will be responsible for managing and developing strategic relationships with agents who write across multiple states. He will work closely with Merchants’ regional offices to develop and coordinate the successful execution of various strategic business plans, and will continue to oversee agency contracts, licensing and mergers and acquisitions.

Hurwitz & Fine P.C. welcomes Joseph M. Reynolds as an associate in the firm’s commercial real estate development and finance practice group. Reynolds received his bachelor’s degree in management from SUNY Geneseo and his juris doctor from the University at Buffalo School of Law.

Medaille College has named Albert G. Orbinati as assistant vice president for academic affairs for online learning and continuing education. He will be responsible for managing Medaille’s current online program as well as developing programs. He holds a doctorate in adult and postsecondary education from Capella University, a master’s degree in adult and postsecondary education from Central Michigan University, and a bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University.

Dr. Raman Sood has been made the chief of division of medical oncology and hematology for CCS Oncology. He will be responsible for supporting and supervising the clinical research program, supervising and developing the in-house oncology dispensing service, as well as working to ensure necessary patient protocols are in place. Sood is board certified in medical oncology, as well as in internal medicine. He also has completed a fellowship with Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

YMCA Buffalo Niagara has promoted Geoffrey Falkner to communications director at the YMCA’s association office. Falkner is responsible for overseeing all marketing, public relations and advertising efforts for the association’s seven branches and its resident camp, Camp Weona. He has a bachelor’s degree in communications from Cornell University.

Sujata Yalamanchili, Hodgson Russ partner and leader of the firm’s real estate, finance and bankruptcy practice, is the 2016 recipient of the Minority Bar Association of WNY’s Legal Service Award. This award honors an attorney for extraordinary leadership, commitment and dedication while providing the highest caliber of compassionate legal representation and outstanding service to the community.

Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP has announced that Joseph P. Heins and Mark C. Davis have been appointed to the 11-member Erie County Citizens’ Budget Review Commission, which was established to assist and advise the Erie County Legislature in the oversight of the county’s budget and to monitor county finances in order to ensure the long-term fiscal stability of Erie County.

The Cullen Foundation has named Ann Levy Walden to program officer of education. Levy Walden will help shape, implement and evaluate the foundation’s strategic education investment strategy, as well as manage relationships with potential grantees to develop plans and projects for funding. She holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from the Broad Center, a master’s degree from Columbia University Teachers College and a bachelor’s degree from Colby College.

Tripp Higgins has been named president at Wirthwein Marketing. Higgins joins Wirthwein Marketing from Fox Run Orchard Park, a continuing care retirement community in Western New York, where he served as director of sales and marketing.

Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria has announced that Mellissa A. Murphy has joined the firm as an associate in the estates, wills and trusts department. Murphy received her juris doctor from the University at Buffalo and a bachelor degree from Hilbert College.
