MALEJS - Aivess Father of Buffalo actor Aleks Malejs
November 21, 1939 - September 14, 2016. Aivess had flight reservations to come to Buffalo to see his daughter's performance at the Irish Classical Theatre's "Sweet Bird of Youth". Aivess was born in Riga, Latvia on November 21, 1939. In 1945, with his father, mother and brother they became refugees in wartime Germany. In 1952 the family immigrated to the United States where they settled in Buffalo, NY. Years later he proudly served in the U.S. Army. After returning from overseas, he was employed by Bethlehem Steel, Pinkerton Investigations, Jones Chemicals and Farm Family until 1989 when he relocated to Eugene, Oregon. In Eugene he pursued video production with Media Craft and finally into a position with Jennings Group Property Management. Aivess died on September 14th in his home in Eugene, Oregon.
He is fondly remembered by his loving wife, Judy in Eugene; daughter, Aleksandra Malejs; his brother, Vidis and his wife, Zinta Malejs; his niece, Inga Yanoski and her husband, Michael and children, Kaiva, Karlina and Kristaps in Buffalo; nephew, Peteris Malejs and his wife, Susan and daughters, Kara and Maggie in Vestal; nephew, Maris Malejs in Los Angeles; his son Richard Raines and wife, Kate and their children, Addison, Charlotte and William in Orchard Park; his daughter, Amy Littleboy-Price and her husband, Willie and granddaughters, Jacy and Samantha in Eugene. A private service will be held October 12, 2016 at the Roseburg National Cemetery, Oregon. A memorial service will be held Sunday October 16, at 3 PM in the North Park Lutheran Church, 310 Starin Ave. (corner of Wingate), Buffalo, NY. Rev. Ivars Gaide from Toronto, Ontario will be performing the Latvian Service.
