Trees along Third Street in Niagara Falls will be filled with purple ribbons Thursday afternoon in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The third annual Domestic Violence Ribbon Walk, coordinated by Family and Children’s Service of Niagara, will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Main and Third streets. After brief remarks, participants will walk down Third Street, tying ribbons on the trees between Main and Niagara streets. Participants are asked to dress in purple for the walk.
A survivor’s art exhibit will follow the short walk at Wine on Third, 501 Third St. The theme of the exhibit is “Journeys of Self-Nurture and Pinwheels for Peace.” The art was created by residents of Passage House, a domestic violence shelter.
