LOCKPORT – An 80-year-old man was walking in the road Tuesday night when he was fatally struck by a motorcyclist, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said.

Walter K. White of Lockport was struck at about 9:15 p.m. on Stone Road. He was found on the east side of the road and was pronounced dead at the scene.

White was walking near the middle of the eastbound lane of the two-lane road when he was struck, the preliminary investigation showed.

No charges have been filed against the motorcyclist, Peter A. Nigro, 31, of Wilson, the sheriff’s office said.

Nigro, who was found in a yard on the south side of the road, was taken by ambulance to Eastern Niagara Hospital after the collision. He was treated and released from the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
