UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is expanding its team with the addition of orthopedic surgeon Dr. Evgeny A. Dyskin. Dyskin earned his doctor of medicine degree from Tver State Medical Academy in Tver, Russia. While practicing orthopadics in Russia for a decade, Dyskin obtained his doctor of philosophy in “ultrasound and X-ray examinations of the shoulder joint with rotator cuff disorders,” along with several short-term fellowships in Israel and Austria. He then pursued a fellowship in reconstructive surgery through the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Following this fellowship, Dyskin completed his residency in orthopedics at the University at Buffalo and a secondary fellowship in orthopedic traumatology through the University of Minnesota Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York named Michelle Casey as the organization’s president and chief executive officer. Casey holds a master’s of public administration, with a health care emphasis, from SUNY Brockport. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. John Fisher College.
The Greater Buffalo United Accountable Care Organization and YourCare Health Plan have joined together in a health care partnership. Under the pilot program, which was submitted to the state for approval, YourCare will become the first health plan that provides Medicaid and other government-sponsored insurance programs to pair up with GBUACO, the first Medicaid-accountable care organization in New York State.
Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Gibco announced it will continue to grow its New York-based business and has completed an expansion of its Grand Island site to meet the demands of its biotechnology and pharmaceutical customers. The expansion is specific to their Large Volume Liquid manufacturing capabilities.
