Featured Driver of the Week: Dennis Lunger Jr.

Age: 48.

Hometown: Albion, Pa.

Division: Crate Late Models/Humberstone, Raceway 7.

Lowdown: Lunger survived the racing season only to fall off of a 15-foot ladder at his shop last week, breaking both his left arm and left kneecap. Lunger travels from his Albion, Pa., home almost three hours each week (190 miles one way) to compete Sunday evenings at Humberstone Speedway. Also competes at other tracks including Eriez and Raceway 7 (Conneaut, Ohio).

Accomplishments: Lunger has won the Humberstone RUSH Crate Late Model season points championship each of the last two seasons. He has 76 overall feature wins during his career at various tracks, including Street Stocks, Limited Late Models, E-Mods, Super Late Models and Crate Late Models. Since 2014, Lunger has amassed 22 RUSH Crate Late Model triumphs at Humberstone, including eight this season, 11 a year ago and three in 2014. He is the 2016 and 2009 Crate Late Model champion at Raceway 7 as well as the 2013 Sharon (Ohio) Speedway Crate Late Model champion. Lunger won the prestigious “Steel City Stampede” at Pennsylvania’s Lernerville Speedway in 2013.
