Buffalo postal carrier running late accused of dumping undelivered mail

A South Buffalo letter carrier who claims he was running late with deliveries faces allegations that he stole some of his mail.

Richard D’Arcy Jr. is charged with theft of mail and is accused of opening some of the undelivered mail and taking money he found inside.

D’Arcy, who delivered mail in West Seneca, is also accused of dumping some of his undelivered mail back into a blue postal collection box on McKinley Avenue, near his home.

Federal prosecutors claim D’Arcy admitted to his crimes and blamed it, in part, on his inability to finish his route on time.
