Buffalo man accused of swiping student’s backpack at bus stop

An 18-year-old Buffalo man is accused of robbing a student at gunpoint at a school bus stop Monday morning.

Buffalo police said Cale Klembczyk of Laux Street got out of a van armed with a gun and went up to one of the two students at the bus stop at about 9 a.m. at Howard and Lewis street.

Klembczyk made off with the student’s backpack, got back in the van and left the scene, Buffalo police said.

The van was later spotted in the first block of Laux Street, where officers recovered the backpack inside the van apprehended Klembczak, who was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, second-degree menacing and criminal possession of stolen property.
