Tonawanda police identify pedestrian killed crossing Niagara Falls Boulevard last week

The 67-year-old pedestrian who died after being struck while crossing Niagara Falls Boulevard last week has been identified as Paul Mroczka of Amherst, Town of Tonawanda police said Monday.

Mroczka was struck by the driver of a pickup at about 6:40 a.m. Thursday near Dexter Terrace.

Mroczka was walking to a bus stop and crossed the boulevard against the green traffic light, police previously said.

His death was the fifth time a pedestrian has been killed trying to cross a 1.7-mile stretch of the boulevard along the Amherst-Town of Tonawanda border in a little more than three years.
