Two injured when Lewiston driver knocks taxi across several lanes

An accident in the City of Niagara Falls left two people injured after a woman struck a taxi cab Saturday night.

The 46-year-old Lewiston woman was driving her 2015 Honda Civic west on Niagara Falls Boulevard when she struck a 2007 Dodge taxi that had just dropped off a customer around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Niagara Falls police.

The cab, driven by a 61-year-old Niagara Falls man, was backing out from a parking lot onto Niagara Falls Boulevard when it was struck. The impact caused the taxi driver to lose control of his vehicle, cross several lanes and strike a pole, a parked vehicle and a building, which suffered minimal damage, police reported.

The Lewiston woman was taken to Erie County Medical Center and treated for a broken arm, knee and possible head injuries. The taxi driver was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for evaluation regarding a head injury and knee pain. Police did not name the drivers.

Charges are pending, police said.
