Looking to advance to the championship game of the National Women’s Soccer League for the first time since 2013, the Western New York Flash will take on the Portland Thorns FC Sunday in the semifinal playoff match at Providence Park in the Oregon city (Fox Sports 1, 5 p.m.).
The Flash lost to Portland, 2-0, in Rochester in the 2013 NWSL championship game.

The championship game will be in Houston on Oct. 9
Lynn Williams, with 11 goals, and Jessica McDonald, with 10, led the Flash scoring in the regular season. Nadia Nadim topped the Thorns with nine goals. Portland allowed a league-low 19 goals in 20 games and had the best home record (8-1-1) of the 10 NWSL teams. The Flash was 3-3-4 in away games.
