Business People for the week of Oct. 2

Delaware North has hired Timothy Stone as the director of operations at The Westin Buffalo. Stone holds a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from Canisius College as well as a certification in the art and culture of the European hospitality industry from the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Glion, Switzerland. In his role, Stone will be responsible for the daily oversight of the rooms, engineering and retail departments

Dawn Friend was appointed to director of nursing and resident care services at Schofield Residence. Friend is responsible for the coordination and administration of health care services to all residents and oversight of all nurses, certified nursing assistants and hospitality aides. She is a graduate of Trocaire College.

Kathleen Murphy-Villafranca was named assistant director of nursing and resident care services at Schofield Residence. Murphy-Villafranca is responsible for oversight of all nurses, certified nursing assistants and hospitality aides. She is a graduate of Trocaire College.

Stephanie Grucza was named director of dietary services at Schofield Residence. Grucza oversees all dietary staff and nutrition services as well as meal planning and preparation. She is a graduate of Erie Community College.

Colleen Osborn was appointed director of home care operations for Schofield Care. Osborn is responsible for Schofield’s Licensed Home Care Service Agency, Schofield Home Health Services Inc. and Schofield Certified Home Care. She is a graduate of Daemen College, where she is completing her MSN degree.

Schofield Adult Day Health Care, promoted Diana Krywokulski to the position of administrative manager. Krywokulski was appointed to her new post after serving eight years as health information management assistant.

Dr. Daniel J. Leberer has joined the Buffalo Medical Group as a colon rectal surgeon. A graduate of Villanova University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Leberer received his doctor of medicine from University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Dr. Karen R. Schoene has been named an associate at Atwal Eye Care. She is a graduate of the Northwestern University Medical School, where she received her medical degree. Schoene completed her internship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and her ophthalmology residency at the University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Nova Healthcare Administrators, an affiliate organization of Independent Health, promoted Jamie Farrell to director, Health Plan Performance Management. Farrell will oversee the strategic direction of the Health Plan Performance Management Department including proactive market research, data analytics for health plan and provider performance, and product and strategy development designed to mitigate client cost trends. Farrell holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, as well as minors in journalism and writing, from Ithaca College.

Thomas J. Hurley an attorney for Harter Secrest & Emery LLP was named Buffalo lawyer of the year by the Best Lawyers in America 2017, in the area of employee benefits law. Hurley advises clients with respect to a broad range of employee benefits matters, including plan administration, benefit aspects of corporate transactions and benefits litigation, as well as the design, implementation and administration of welfare benefit plans, including flexible benefit plans, self-insured health plans and health savings accounts.

Anthony D. Mancinelli, an attorney for Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, was named Buffalo lawyer of the year by the Best Lawyers in America 2017, in the area of corporate law. He has practiced for more than 30 years, concentrating in all areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and private and public finance.

Robert C. Weissflach, an attorney for Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, was named Buffalo lawyer of the year by the Best Lawyers in America 2017, in the area of litigation – labor and employment.
