TestAmerica acquired by Chinese company

TestAmerica, an Ohio-based environmental testing firm that has about 100 employees at a laboratory in Amherst, has been acquired by a Chinese company, JSTI Group.

JSTI, a global transportation systems design and environmental monitoring firm, said the acquisition will help TestAmerica grow in the United States and also push it into new international markets, where demand for environmental services is growing, especially in China.

The deal, first disclosed in June and completed on Sept. 23, could lead to more work – and more employees – at the company’s 30,000-square-foot lab at 10 Hazelwood Drive in Amherst, said James H. Miller, TestAmerica’s senior vice president in Amherst.

TestAmerica, based in Canton, Ohio, has more than 2,300 employees nationwide.
